FACT CHECK: Jollibee impostor posts FAKE anniversary promo

An impostor Facebook (FB) page named 𝘑͟𝘰͟𝘭͟𝘭͟𝘪͟𝘣͟𝘦͟𝘦͟ 𝘧͟𝘢͟𝘯͟𝘴 claimed that fast food chain Jollibee is giving away P10,000 and a gift voucher as part of its anniversary celebration. This post is fake.

Its caption read:

Good luck.”

(Greetings, everyone. To celebrate Jollibee’s [anniversary], everyone who writes “Happy Birthday” on our PAGE before July 2 will receive exclusive prizes in the form of cash gift bags and shopping vouchers. Good luck.)

“This is not an official promotion of Jollibee. Please be careful in responding to posts about promos that are not from the Jollibee official Facebook page,” a customer care representative told VERA Files Fact Check in a July 2 email.

VERA Files Fact Check debunked a similar claim last year.

To claim the supposed prize, the bogus FB page instructs netizens to register to a phishing website within five minutes (officialweb-jollibee-2024.blogspot.com). Specifically, the fake website asks for netizens’ email addresses and phone numbers.

Netizens who wrote “Happy Birthday” in the comments section received a private message with a link to the bogus phishing website.

Posted by FB page 𝘑͟𝘰͟𝘭͟𝘭͟𝘪͟𝘣͟𝘦͟𝘦͟ 𝘧͟𝘢͟𝘯͟𝘴 on June 27, the fake post garnered a total of 331 comments, 2,178 comments, and 985 shares. It appeared three days after Jollibee reported that 11 million customers were affected by a data breach.
