Aquino, Roxas sustain lead in March 21-28 Pulse Asia survey

LIBERAL Party (LP) presidential candidate Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” C. Aquino III, scoring a 37 percent voting preference, continues to lead the other presidential contenders.

In second place is Sen. Manuel “Manny” Villar (Nacionalista Party [NP]) with 25 percent voter support.

Former President Joseph “Erap” Ejercito Estrada is the only other candidate with double digit support, at 18 percent, while the other candidates register single digit voter preferences—LAKAS-KAMPI-CMD Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro with 7 percent; Bagumbayan standard-bearer Sen. Richard “Dick” J. Gordon at 2 percent; and, Bangon Pilipinas candidate Brother Eddie Villanueva, with 2 percent voter preference. Nine percent of the survey respondents refused or remained undecided as to their presidential preference.

With 43 percent of the voting preferences, Roxas continues to enjoy a significant lead over the other vice presidential candidates. Sen. Loren Legarda (NPC) places second with 23 percent, closely followed by Makati Mayor Jejomar “Jojo” Binay (PDP-LABAN) with 19%, the two candidates in a statistical tie. The other contenders received support of 3 percent or less.

Nine percent of voters refused or did not indicate a preference for both the president and vice president.

In the senatorial race, the top 12 are:

1.Senator Ramon B. Revilla, Jr. (53.0%)

2.Senator Jinggoy E. Estrada (52.1%)

3. Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago (46.2%)

4. Senator Pilar Juliana S. Cayetano (42.7%)

5. Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile (42.1%)

6. Senate President Franklin M. Drilon (41.1%)

7.Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) Chairperson Vicente C. Sotto III (35.1%)

8.Former National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Chairperson Ralph G. Recto (32.5%)

9. Ilocos Norte Representative Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. (30.6%)

10. former Senator Sergio R. Osmeña III (27.9%)

11. Senator Manuel M. Lapid (23.9%)

12.Bukidnon Representative Teofisto D. Guingona III (22.7% )

Those in striking distance from the Magic 12 are  Jose P. de Venecia III (21.4%); and Atty. Gwendolyn D. Pimentel (19.6%);
