BANGUED, Abra.— A barangay captain of Pidigan town was shot on the nape Thursday evening, just a few days before the election period comes to an end.

Pangtud Barangay Captain Rodolfo Bragas was shot by a certain Noli Marsan and three other companions in his house while he was writing a barangay report.

Marsan was arrested by police and is now detained at the Pidigan Municipal Police Station. Bragas was brought to the Abra Provincial Hospital and has already recovered.

Provincial Director Joseph Adnol said the motive of the shooting is a “grudge” and that a case “will be filed in court.”

On May 29, the former Ernesto Pacsa, Sr, former San Isidro mayor and father of incumbent mayor Ernesto Pacsa, Jr, was arrested at the Sinalang checkpoint here for possession of a .45 caliber gun.

A case has been filed against Pacsa but he is  now out on bail.

Gun ban is effective until June 9, when the election period ends.
