Palm Sunday commemorates the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, which later on turned into agony with the crucifixion in Calvary. The persecution of Jesus Christ ends when he resurrected on Easter Sunday.
This week marks the end of the 40-day Lent, which started with Ash Wednesday on Feb. 14.

In his homily, Monsignor Bobby Canlas said the blessing of palm fronds and olive branches is to remind devotees the need to have a “fresh” renewal of their faith.
