FILIPINOS rate as “poor” the government’s handling of the nearly year-old Maguindanao massacre case, according to the Social Weather Stations.

Its September survey shows 47 percent dissatisfied and 35 percent satisfied with what the government has done so far about the case, or a “poor” satisfaction rating of -12 (% satisfied minus % dissatisfied).

In December last year, one month after the massacre, 44 percent of those polled were dissatisfied and 41 percent satisified, or a “neutral” -2 net satisfaction rating, it said.

The SWS also found that 70 percent of the public closely followed news on the Nov. 23 massacre that left 57 civilians, including 32 journalists, dead in what has been dubbed as the worst case of election-related violence in the country and the world’s single deadliest attack on the press.

The SWS classifies net satisfaction ratings of  +70 and above as “excellent”; +50 to +69, “very good”; +30 to +49, “good”; +10 to +29, “moderate”, +9 to -9, “neutral”; -10 to -29, “poor”; -30 to -49, “bad”; -50 to -69, “very bad”; -70 and below, “execrable.”.
