Many PWDs still don’t get privileges

Four years ago, Congress passed a law granting privileges to persons with disabilities. But certain sectors questioned the law, which is why it has not been fully implemented.

Four years ago, Congress passed a law granting privileges to persons with disabilities. But certain sectors questioned the law, which is why it has not been fully implemented.

To make matters worse, these sectors say that while the law benefits PWDs, it leaves nothing for business owners, who end up bearing the cost of this benefit.

Republc Act 9942, which amended the Magna Carta for Disabled Persons, provides for various benefits and incentives for PWDs.  But a legal battle between the National Council for Disability Affairs and the Drugstore Association of the Philippines hindered the implementation of the law.
