FILIPINOS remain satisfied with the performance of Vice President Noli de Castro, are neutral toward Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and Chief Justice Reynato Puno, but are dissatisfied with Speaker Propsero Nograles, according to the latest Social Weather Stations survey.
Nograles’s net satisfaction rating worsened from to–22 from–17 in the previous quarter, the lowest rating as yet for speakers of the House of Representatives since 1990, according to SWS.
Net satisfaction is equal to percent “satisfied” minus percent “dissatisfied.” In Nograles’ case, 23 percent were satisfied with his performance versus the 45 percent who were dissatisfied.
De Castro’s net satisfaction rating of +36 is similar to +39 he got in December 2008, said SWS which conducted the survey from Feb. 20 to 23. It said the vice president’s performance rating has been +30 and above since June 2006.
Enrile scored a net satisfaction rating of +8 now, up from +5 in the previous quarter, while Puno’s rating improved from –4 in December 2008 to +3 in the latest survey.
Earlier, the SWS said Filipinos remain dissatisfied with President Gloria Arroyo’s performance. It found 26 percent satisfied and 59 percent dissatisfied with her performance, or a net rating of -32.
The February 2009 survey also found half of adult Filipinos satisfied and 27 percent dissatisfied with the Senate’s performance, or a moderate net +23.
Thirty-five percent were satisfied and 34 percent dissatisfied with the House of Representatives, for a net rating of +2, down by 7 points in the previous quarter.
The survey also found 39 percent satisfied and 35 percent dissatisfied with the performance of the Supreme Court, or a net +4, which is 4 points down from its +8 rating in December 2008.
It found 31 percent satisfied and 39 percent dissatisfied with the cabinet as a whole, or a –7, down by 6 points from its December 2008 rating.
SWS net satisfaction ratings mean the following: +50 and above, “very good”; +30 to +49, “good”; +10 to +29, “moderate”, +9 to -9, “neutral”; -10 to -29, “poor”; -30 to -49, “bad”; and -50 or lower, “very bad.”
