THOSE who are interested to do advanced studies in Taiwan, here’s your chance:

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines, the de-facto embassy of Republic of China (Taiwan) in Manila announced that the yearly Taiwan fellowship is now open.

The Taiwan Fellowship, being administered by the ROC’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is open to scholars and experts from developing APEC economies, the Philippines included. Twelve slots are available.

The Fellowship would be in any of in any of the following areas: cross-strait relations, mainland China, Asia-Pacific region and Sinology. The terms of fellowship are 3 to 12 months.

The online application will be available on May 1 to June 30, 2015. Recipients will begin their research in any university or academic institution in Taiwan in January 2016.

TECO said the Fellows will receive monthly grants to be given at the beginning of every month. For professors, associate professors, research fellows, or associate research fellows, it would be NT60,000 (approximately P 84,000). For assistant professors, assistant research fellows, or doctoral candidates, it would be NT50, 000(approximately P 70,000).

The Fellows will each be provided one round-trip, economy class ticket for the most direct route to Taiwan. Also, an accident insurance (plus a medical insurance for accidental injuries) coverage of NT 1 million (approximately P 1.4 million).

Applicants should first submit an on-line application form and then submit the following documents to TECO before June 30, 2015:

(1)               Application form;

(2)               Resume (including a publication list);

(3)               Research proposal (Three pages in principle using a standard research format); and

(4)               Two letters of recommendations, or one letter of recommendation and one letter of consent from the chief administrator of your institute.

Ambassador Guy Ledoux of the European Union Delegation to the Philippines is reminding broadcast and print journalists of the May 31 deadline for submission for entries EU Peace Journalism Awards.

“The EU, which a member of the International Monitoring Team and its member states in the Philippines reiterate that a negotiated political settlement in Mindanao remains all the more necessary to achieve a long-lasting peace in the Southern Philippines. With this conviction, I hope that the EU Peace Journalism Awards will be a vehicle to help in generating information, awareness, and better understanding of the peace situation in the Philippines,” Ledoux said.

He further said, “The EU together with its collaborators and partners shall look forward to receiving your and your colleagues entries at email address: DELEGATION-PHILIPPINES-PPI@eeas.eu until 31 May 2015.”
