The website philrepublicnews.com reposted April 5 a fake news about Sen. Grace Poe wanting to block Facebook. The site was created in August 2017.
The claim was debunked by Poe herself on Feb. 1, saying a “trending” video that first made the allegation was spliced to make it appear she wanted to ban Facebook.
Poe, chair of the Senate committee on public information and mass media, during the Jan. 30 hearing said the social media giant should cooperate with authorities to fight fake news.
The senator is up for reelection in 2019.
