SENATORS Manuel Villar Jr. and Benigno Aquino III are the most trusted presidential candidates, according to a Pulse Asia survey.
The survey, taken from Jan. 22 to 26, shows Villar and Aquino with trust ratings of 70 and 64 percent, respectively.
Among the vice presidential bets, the most trusted are Senators Manuel A. Roxas II (73 percent) and Loren Legarda (61 percent), according to results.
President Arroyo’s trust rating of 11 percent, on the other hand, remains at its lowest since March 2001. It is the same as that recorded in December.
The Pulse Asia poll also shows 52 percent of Filipinos will not elect a presidential candidate endorsed by Arroyo and 40 percent feel the same toward a candidate endorsed by former President Fivel Ramos.
A near majority of Filipinos (47 percent), meanwhile, trusts the Commission on Elections while a big plurality (43 percent) trusts the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting.
The trust ratings of presidential candidates: Manuel B. Villar Jr. (70 percent), Benigno C. Aquino III (64 percent), Joseph Estrada (33 percent), Gilberto C. Teodoro Jr. (36 percent). The other presidential candidates record near to small majority distrust ratings among those aware of them: Jamby Madrigal (47 percent), Olongapo City Councilor JC de los Reyes (50 percent), Vetallano S. Acosta (51 percent), Eduardo Villanueva (53 percent), and Jesus Nicanor Perlas (54 percent).
The trust ratings of vice presidential candidates: Manuel A. Roxas II (73 percent), Loren Legarda (61 percent), and Jejomar C. Binay, (44 percent). On the other hand, big pluralities to small majorities of those aware of them distrust the other vice-presidential candidates in the May 2010 elections: Eduardo Manzano (45 percent), Bayani Fernando (46 percent), Director Dominador F. Chipeco Jr. (52 percent), Jay Y. Sonza (57 percent), and Perfecto Yasay Jr. (58 percent).
