Accountability matters. If the vice president crossed legal lines, the truth must come out. No one is above the law. But if “reasonable time” becomes years of televised standoff, the costs will be borne elsewhere—by stalled reforms, persistently high electricity rates and the elusive goal of affordable rice.

Calling the charges “baseless” does not make them disappear. Declaring them “political” does not answer them… Until the vice president confronts the allegations directly and fully, the issue will not fade into politics. It will remain a matter of responsibility left unresolved.
