LESS  than a year before stepping down as president, President Arroyo scores dismally in performance and trustworthiness.

Filipino critical of Arroyo’s performance and who distrust her continue to outnumber those who think positively of her work and trustworthiness, Pulse Asia said Monday.

Nationwide, 51 percent of the 1,800 adults polled by Pulse Asia from Oct. 22 to 30 gave her a disapproval rating for her performance and 52 percent have small or no trust in her.  Only 19 percent approve of her performance and 21 percent say they trust her.

Vice President Noli de Castro continues to score the highest overall approval rating among the country’s top national government officials, but this has slid down as well.

His 43 percent approval rating is significantly lower—12 points—than what he got in August 2009, according to Pulse Asia. His disapproval rating, on the hand, is up 11 points, from 16 percent to 27 percent in the same period.

Also up are the disapproval ratings of Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, by 5 points, from 20 percent in August to 25 percent in October;  Speaker Prospero C. Nograles, 9 points, from 30 percent to 39%; and Chief Justice Reynato Puno, 6 points, from 19 percent to 25 percent.

The nationwide survey has a ± 2% error margin at the 95% confidence level.
