THE cancellation hearing of three party-list groups set for Friday will send the message that the Commission on Elections is strict in enforcing the rules on campaigning and serve as warning to local candidates ahead of the start of the campaign period in less than three weeks.

Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. said they will hear Friday the cancellation of registration of Kabataan, LPG Marketers Association (LPGMA) and PISTON for posting campaign materials in prohibited areas.

The party-list groups were sent notices last month for posting campaign materials in areas outside Comelec’s designated common poster areas which include plazas, markets, and barangay centers.The Friday hearings are a result of their alleged refusal to take down the illegal posters beyond the three-day grace period given them.
