THE Liberal Party (LP) spent almost P2 million for its proclamation rally in Plaza Miranda in Manila at the start of the campaign period, P1 million more than the expenses incurred by rival United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).

LP spent P1.89 million pesos based on the Statement of Expenses on Public Rally filed by party treasurer Alfonso Umali, Jr. The amount was spent to pay for the services of Creative Synergy, Inc., a design and marketing communications group that prepared and produced Team PNoy’s proclamation rally in Manila on Feb. 12.

UNA spent P842, 224.66 for its proclamation rally at Plaza Independencia in Cebu City. Plastics King William Gatchalian, Jr. contributed P946, 625 in hotel accommodations for UNA candidates, according to its report to the Commission on Elections.
