FOR one who admits of not being computer and internet savvy, Sen. Benigno Aquino III is not doing badly at all in cyberspace.

He leads other 2010 presidential aspirants in terms of combined number of Facebook and Friendster “friends” with 155,950 followed by Sen. Francis Escudero with 81,114 and Manny Villar with 56,945.

He is also the leader in Twitter followers with 17,970, followed by Escudero with 14,679 and Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro with 3,609.Internet articles about him generate high number of hits.

Today, he launched his video blog or Vblog, the only one among the presidential candidates to use the innovative medium.

Yoly Ong, director for communications in the Aquino campaign said the vlog dubbed as “60 seconds with Noy”, will be a series of 18 episodes to be posted at www.noynoy.ph starting today up Nov. 27, the day before he files his certificate of candidacy on Nov. 28.

Ong said Aquino’s vlog will offer an “unscripted and raw look” of the Liberal Party presidential bet and learn more about his advocacies and platform of governance.

Speaking via video satellite from his residence on Times street to reporters assembled in the Campaigns and Grey office in Makati, the advertising and public relations firm headed by Ong, Aquino said using the power of the internet, he would like to wage “an issue- based campaign rather than a personality-based campaign.”

Here’s the first of Noynoy’s vlog:
