BLIND voter and party-list candidate Michael Barredo got a taste of the obstacles that persons with disability (PWDs) had to overcome just to be able to cast their votes last May 13.
Despite a resolution by the Commission on Elections to make PWD voting centers accessible, Barredo, guided by his wife and a walking stick, had to climb to the second floor of the polling place in Las PiƱas to cast his vote.
Comelec Resolution 9485 mandates all polling places with PWD voters to be located at the ground floor.
Barredo had to demand access to the special lane for PWDs, otherwise he would have also been made to wait in line.
