TARLAC City – If President Benigno Aquino III visits Tarlac Cathedral in his home province this Lenten Season, he might notice the red ribbons — instead of yellow — that adorn the church fence.
He might also notice the 2-by-8-feet tarpaulins that hang in front of the church enumerating whom to vote for in the May 2013 polls.
In the middle of the two tarpaulins, a picture of the crucified Christ is displayed with the words “Vote as God the author of life, would wish you to vote. Vote to protect family and life.”
The red ribbons were placed by the parish as a sign of protest for the President’s signing of the controversial Reproductive Health Law or Republic Act 10354. It was certified urgent by the President when it was still a bill, and was supported by his allies in both houses of Congress.
