Maria Rosario Vergeire revealed the ‘truth’ during an interview, promoting a hypertension cure.

The DOH said that the ad is fake and that the video of Vergeire was maliciously edited.

Another paid ad on Facebook (FB) claimed that former acting Health Secretary Maria Rosario Vergeire revealed the ‘truth’ while promoting a cure for hypertension. This is fake.

The alleged cure – which was not mentioned – supposedly cleans blood vessels and removes up to two kilograms of blood clots a day.

“None of the allegations stated in the video are true and the purported interview with the official has been maliciously edited,” the Department of Health (DOH) said in an April 2 advisory

High blood pressure or hypertension can be managed with medication but there is no cure for it, according to the U.S. National Institutes of Health -National Institute on Aging.

Clicking the fake post redirects users to a webpage supposedly showing the hypertension medicine. As of April 3, the webpage is no longer active.

The bogus ad carried an altered video with the audio changed to imitate Vergeire’s voice talking about a groundbreaking cure for hypertension. It also shows a manipulated version of a video showing GMA newscaster Mel Tiangco.

VERA Files Fact Check traced the edited Vergeire clip to a January 31, 2023 interview she had with ANC Headstart host Karen Davila.

In the ANC interview, Vergeire only talked about the country’s COVID-19 situation and nurse shortages. She did not mention hypertension or any supposed cures for it.
