A video compilation on Facebook (FB) is claiming to show Israel supposedly being ravaged by a storm this month. The last storm reported to have hit Israel was in September. The clips were given false context.

Published on Nov. 22 by a Filipino FB user, the minute-long video bore the text: “Storm in Israel today”. The clips showed strong winds blowing across streets, intense rainstorms, people seeking shelter, and a tornado tearing off houses from the ground.

A reverse image search revealed that at least three of the clips shown in this compilation were either edited or taken in different countries.

One of the videos was fake and created by a visual effects artist. Two clips were taken in China and Ukraine earlier this year.

VERA Files Fact Check previously debunked a video with a similar claim this month. (Read Video shows clips from different countries, NOT Israel)

The false video continued to circulate this week as Israel and Hamas agreed on Nov. 27 to extend their truce by two days to release hostages, temporarily halting the conflict between the two groups that resparked in early October.

The FB user’s false video has garnered over 3,500 reactions, 890 comments, 1,100 shares and 191,000 views.
