Another Facebook (FB) page posing as that of home appliance company EMCOR posted a fake giveaway of washing machines and refrigerator units.
Uploaded on Feb. 20, the caption of the post, reads:
“LIBRENG WASHING MACHINE AT REFRIGERATOR
Ipinagmamalaki naming i-anunsyo na magdo-donate kami ng 520 washing machines na hindi mabenta dahil gasgas at bahagyang nasira, lahat ng washing machine ay nasa maayos na kondisyon at random na ipapadala namin sa mga nagsusulat ng “CONGRATULATIONS” bago mag February 25 2025, Good luck”

We are proud to announce that we will donate 520 washing machines that cannot be sold due to scratches and minor damage, all washing machines are in good condition and we will randomly send these to whoever comments “CONGRATULATIONS” before February 25, 2025, Good luck)
The official EMCOR, Inc. Facebook page had already issued a warning on Feb. 4 about impostor accounts promoting fake giveaways. It urged customers to transact only through its official page.
Other fake giveaways with identical images and captions have been posted by other pages. The impostor EMCOR page also shared a copycat post from a new FB profile pretending to represent the LCC Supermarket store chain.
VERA Files Fact Check has reported on similar fake giveaways in 2024 from other pages, also parading as that of EMCOR.
The post was uploaded by the FB page EMCOR (created Feb. 20), lacking a verification badge, and has since garnered over 2,500 reactions, 7,300 comments and 11,000 shares.
