Seven impostor Facebook pages of Gaisano Capital, a retail chain in southern Philippines, posted about supposed announcements of giveaways, including cash. This is fake.

The official Gaisano Capital FB page issued an advisory on July 14, warning the public about a “fake account,” clarifying that the announcement about the free items circulated by the page is “not true.”

Published as early as July 9, an FB page posing as Gaisano Capital posted a supposed giveaway of washing machines and refrigerators. The post had several photos of the appliances and a caption that read:

LIBRENG WASHING MACHINE AT REFRIGERATOR

(FREE WASHING MACHINE AND REFRIGERATOR

We are proud to announce that we will donate 520 washing machines that could not be sold due to scratches and minor damage. All the washing machines are in good condition and will be randomly sent to those who write ‘CONGRATULATIONS’ before July 12, 2025. Good luck)”

The same caption and pictures of the appliances were republished by other impostor pages on July 10, 11, and 16, with one post reducing the supposed number of washing machines to 420 and changing the deadline.

Other fake pages uploaded an image with a visual puzzle from July 13 to 15, which netizens are asked to solve for a chance to receive the free items and cash. The posts carried the caption:

Sa ngayon, wala pang nakasagot ng tama sa numero sa larawan. Ngayon ay namimigay kami ng mga libreng motor, shopping voucher, cash at iPhone sa mga sumagot ng tama. Tandaan: Ang mga nanalo ay direktang iaanunsyo sa pamamagitan ng messenger.

(As of now, no one has guessed the correct number in the picture. We are currently giving away free motorcycles, shopping vouchers, cash, and iPhones to those who answer correctly. Note: The winners will be announced directly via Messenger.)”

Seven impostor Facebook pages of retail chain Gaisano Capital posted fake announcements of giveaways of various items, including cash.

In its advisory, the Gaisano Capital urged the public to “beware of scammers and ensure that you only follow our official page for authentic updates and promotions.”

The FB pages of other branches of Gaisano Capital in Sorsogon City, Tacloban City, and Ormoc City, also reposted the company’s July 14 warning.
