A Facebook (FB) page posing as the Gaisano Capital Group of Companies posted a fake giveaway of shopping vouchers.
On Feb. 27, the page uploaded an image with a visual puzzle for social media users to solve. The caption of the post read:
“Sa ngayon ay wala pang nakasagot ng tama sa numero sa larawan. Ngayon ay magbibigay kami ng mga shopping voucher sa mga makasagot ng tama. Tandaan: Direktang aabisuhan ang mga mananalo sa pamamagitan ng messenger.”
(As of now, nobody has yet answered with the correct number in the image. Now, we will be giving away shopping vouchers to those who answer correctly. Remember: We will directly inform winners through FB Messenger.)
The official Gaisano Capital page issued a warning on the same day. The group operates shopping malls and retail stores primarily in the Visayas and Mindanao.
The FB page of the Gaisano Capital Riverside Mall,based in Ormoc City, Leyte also posted an advisory about a similarly named impostor page back in August 2024.
The post was uploaded by the FB page Gaisano Capital (created Feb. 27), lacking a verification badge and has since garnered over 1,700 reactions, 6,400 comments and 9,800 shares.
