At least three Facebook posts circulating online claim that Sen. Pia Cayetano is back as the Senate blue ribbon chair. This is false.
Sen. Erwin Tulfo assumed the position and replaced Cayetano after a Senate shakeup on June 3. The FB posts were published on June 27, carrying a “breaking news” graphic with a text that reads:
“TUDAS KAYO NGAYON..!
BREAKING NEWS
Lahat ng pagnanakaw, uunahin? Sen. Pia Cayetano returns as blue ribbon chair — vows to prioritize issues hitting Filipinos hardest.
(YOU ARE ALL DEAD MEAT NOW..!
BREAKING NEWS
All thefts will be prioritized? Sen. Pia Cayetano returns as Blue Ribbon chair — vows to prioritize issues hitting Filipinos hardest.)”
The caption of the posts said Cayetano stressed that the committee’s priorities would focus on issues directly affecting ordinary Filipinos, including the ongoing energy crisis, the rising cost of living, and increasing business expenses across the country.
This is a real statement from lady senator posted on her official FB page on May 20, when she was elected blue ribbon chair, taking over from Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson after a Senate leadership reorganization. The graphic card used in the posts is dated May 22.

Cayetano first served as the chairperson of the Senate blue ribbon committee on June 22, 2024 to June 30, 2025. Her second term was from May 20 until June 03 this year.
The posts surfaced after Cayetano and Sen. Loren Legarda attended the Senate’s afternoon session on June 17, following their absence in the morning session, during which Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian was elected Senate president.
