A Facebook user posted an erroneous video showing a massive crowd supposedly attending a pro-Duterte rally. This is false.

Uploaded on Feb. 17, the 16-second video shows people repeatedly chanting “Duterte!” while jumping up and down with their hands raised.

There was no text in the caption; instead there were several green heart emojis, which are typically associated with the Dutertes.

A video taken supposedly from a pro-Duterte rally was edited. The clip was old footage taken on July 23, 2023 during the Zevra Festival, a music concert held in Spain.

A reverse image search revealed the original video was taken on July 23, 2023 during the Zevra Festival, an annual music concert held in Cullera, Spain. The festival has no connection to Duterte or any political event.

To create a false impression that the scene was from a pro-Duterte rally, the audio of the original video was replaced with a recording of people chanting in support of Duterte.

The edited video surfaced days after the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) held its proclamation rally for its senatorial candidates last Feb.13 in San Juan City.

Duterte, currently the chairman of PDP-Laban, was guest speaker at the event.

As of writing, the edited video has garnered 447,300 views, 21,000 reactions, 3,400 comments, and 4,000 shares.
