A video of President Bongbong Marcos supposedly promoting a trading platform in partnership with Tesla CEO Elon Musk is circulating online. This is fake and manipulated using artificial intelligence (AI).

Facebook (FB) pages have been sharing since May 27 a three-minute, 49-second video of Marcos supposedly endorsing “TradeVector AI,” a platform that promises Filipino netizens instant income. On June 15, another FB page posted a copy of the video, which a user sent to the VERA Files Misinformation Tipline for verification.

The video carried the headline:

“NEW PLATFORM ELON MUSK TOGETHER WITH THE GOVERNMENT OF THE PHILIPPINES.”

In the video, Marcos can be seen supposedly promoting the program during a media interview, with the logo of Tesla, Musk’s automotive company, in the background. At the start of the video, the president can be heard saying in part:

“In the next few minutes, I’ll show you how to replicate my success. Watch this video until the end and I’ll tell you how you can earn your first 79,200 php today. First, forget everything you’ve heard about investments. Here’s how it works. Our TradeVector AI algorithm tells you exactly what to do. You just follow the step. It’s that simple….All you need to do is open an account in our program and your balance will start growing….You don’t need much to start. Most brokers require a minimum deposit of just 16, 000 php. No, there’s no catch. I’m not asking anything from you. Your money is safe and you can withdraw it anytime. It’s just your initial trading capital….”

The video then instructs netizens to provide personal information such as full name, email address and phone number to register through a link that leads to an impostor GMA Integrated News page.

The video is AI-manipulated. Marcos and Musk are not promoting such an investment platform.

The circulating video of President Bongbong Marcos supposedly endorsing an investment platform in partnership with Elon Musk was manipulated through artificial intelligence (AI). The government does not have such a project and GMA Integrated News did not publish a report on “TradeVector AI.”

It was a manipulated video of Marcos’ media interview on the sidelines of the launching of the Tesla Center Philippines in Taguig City last January. A voice clone of the president was added and his mouth movements were matched with the fake statements.

ABS-CBN News uploaded the original video on Jan. 20, in which Marcos said former president Rodrigo Duterte was “lying” when he claimed that there were discrepancies in the 2025 national budget. He did not mention anything about an investment platform with Musk.

The post carried a link that leads to a supposed GMA Integrated News report about the program in which they can also register. This is fake and the network did not release such a report.

The photo of Musk and Marcos in the fake report was edited. The original photo shows the meeting between the businessman and former Chinese state councilor and foreign minister Qin Gang in 2023.

GMA Integrated News’ official website can be found at gmanetwork.com. The fake ad carried a link with the domain name FASTCOVERAGE.LIVE.

Imitating legitimate media organizations is a common scam modus. The fake video’s layout is reminiscent of the branding of the content released by ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC).

One of the pages that posted the video carried the name Philippine Daily Inquirer Updates, imitating the Philippine Daily Inquirer broadsheet.

The fake video started circulating two days after Marcos arrived in Malaysia on May 25 for the 46th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit.

VERA Files has debunked other AI-manipulated videos of government officials promoting an investment platform.

Fake videos posted by the FB pages Philippine Daily Inquirer Updates (created on April 24, 2025 as Donna Lewis) and Liwanag sa Dilim (created on Oct. 21, 2021 as FACTS Philippines) have so far collectively garnered 319 reactions, 6 comments, 3 shares, 2.7 million views.
