A Facebook page claims that the start of classes has been moved to June 23 supposedly to give enough time for the Department of Education (DepEd) to decide on implementing a new curriculum. This is fake. June 16 is the first day of School Year 2025-2026.
Published on June 14, the post featured an image credited to the DepEd with text that partially read:
(OPENING OF CLASSES ON JUNE 16 CANCELLED AND WILL BE MOVED TO JUNE 23, 2025
The opening of classes on June 16 has been cancelled due to the possible implementation of a new DepEd curriculum. The opening of classes will be moved and will start on June 23, 2025 to give enough time for DepEd to make its decision).”

No announcements are posted on DepEd’s official channels about rescheduling the start of classes. The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) CALABARZON debunked the post, labeling it as fake.
(The information published by Facebook page Pilipinas Ngayon about the cancellation of the opening of classes tomorrow, June 16, 2025, is not true.)
The PIA reminded the public to rely only on the official social media accounts of government agencies for accurate information.
Schools across the country reopened this Monday, June 16, with about 27 million enrollees from preschool to senior high.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., accompanied by Education Secretary Sonny Angara, visited one elementary school in Manila on the first day of classes.
The DepEd has piloted the strengthened Senior High School curriculum in 800 selected schools nationwide, introducing reforms such as a reduced number of core subjects and the consolidation of four tracks into two main tracks.
