CAVITE City is currently isolated after torrential rains spawned by typhoon “Maring” since the weekend caused the fishponds and salt beds lying at the boundary of the city and Noveleta town to overflow.

Floodwaters have rendered impassable the Manila-Cavite Highway, the only way in and out of the city.

Cavite City is surrounded by three bays: Manila Bay, Canacao Bay and Bacoor Bay. Two naval bases located in the city are also flooded.

Power in the city was cut off at around noon.

Other parts of Cavite experiencing severe flooding include Noveleta, Bacoor, Tanza, Rosario and Carmona.  The province has been placed under a state of calamity.
