IT was the turn of presidential candidate Miriam Defensor-Santiago to host running mate Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. and what better way to hold it in her hometown and at her alma mater, the University of the Philippines, Iloilo.

In February, the Santiago-Marcos team held its proclamation in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, the vice presidential bet’s hometown. It was the first of their being together in a political rally.

The April 13 Iloilo Santiago-Marcos UP-Iloilo event also marked the return of Santiago to the campaign trail after she took a break to join a clinical trial to treat her lung cancer.

“I’m responding to the treatment well, “Santiago announced.

The Santiago-Marcos rally, which was held at the auditorium, was part of the University’s Halalan 2016 forum series. But as in all Santiago campaign attendance, no open forum was held.

Coinciding with the Santiago-Marcos rally was a photo exhibit on the horrors of Martial Law, about 100 meters away from the auditorium.

Marcos was met by protestors upon arriving in UP- Iloilo.
