BONGAO, Tawi-Tawi— The Philippine National Police is sending a company of Special Action Forces to Tawi-Tawi, the country’s southernmost province, as security measures are being tightened in the run-up to the May 13 local elections.
Provincial police director Joselito Salido announced the deployment during the command conference held Monday attended by the PNP, the Army, the Department of Education and the Commission on Election.
During the conference, Salido also asked the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) to help identify areas with private armed groups, especially those where members are known to roam around and create an unfriendly atmosphere for voters.
