A baseless FB post published May 12 called on the public “not to vote” for re-electionist senators Grace Poe and Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV in the 2022 elections under the “Yellow ticket.”
Neither Poe, who is an independent, nor Aquino, who belongs to the Liberal Party, has issued statements on vying for any post in 2022.
“Yellow” is a term associated with the Liberal Party. While former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III endorsed Poe during her first senatorial bid in 2013, she still ran as an independent candidate.
Bam Aquino’s camp in a text message said he is “not even contemplating” on a 2022 bid yet. “We were completely dedicated to the 2019 campaign na napakatindi ng laban (which is very tight),” Aquino’s office said.
In the current partial and unofficial result of the senate votes in the Commission on Elections’ transparency server, Poe sits in the second spot while Aquino is in the 14th.
