Dedicated to combating disinformation with verified information, Tsek.ph – the Philippines’ pioneering fact-checking coalition – will relaunch on February 7, ahead of the May 12 elections.

The launch will be joined by 24 fact-checking initiatives from academia, media and civil society, all committed to providing the public with accurate, fact-based election information.

Angie Drobnic Holan, director of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) at the US-based Poynter Institute, will deliver the keynote address at the launch.

The event will be livestreamed on Tsek.ph and DZUP’s Facebook pages at 10 a.m.

Tsek.ph was launched in 2019, initially bringing together three academic institutions and 11 media partners. Tsek.ph has since broadened its network in the 2022 election, adding new members from academia and media, and fact-checkers from civil society and multisectoral organizations.

This year’s media partners are ABS-CBN, Agence France-Presse, DZUP, Facts First with Christian Esguerra, FYT, Interaksyon, MindaNews, PhilStar Global, Philippine Press Institute, Press One, Probe and VERA Files.

The academic partners include: UP Department of Journalism’s FactRakers, UP Department of Political Science, UP Baguio’s Department of Communication, UP Cebu’s Communication Arts and Design Department, UP Visayas’ Division of Humanities, and the University of Santo Tomas.

The civil society partners are Akademiya at Bayan Kontra Disimpormasyon at Dayaan, Fact Check Philippines, IDEALS, Kontra Daya, Philippine Association for Media and Information Literacy and Pinas Forward.

Tsek.ph is supported this year by the International Media Support, Meedan, Embassy of Canada, UP Journalism Department and the UPCMC Foundation.
