A photo posted on a Facebook (FB) page claims President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte are giving away free housing and cash assistance to Filipinos online. Not true.

On Sept. 14, a photo collage of the Marcos-Duterte tandem and housing units appeared on FB with the caption that read: “PABAHAY + 10K AYUDA PARA SA FILIPINO, MAGPALISTA NA. MAG-MESSAGE NA SA AMIN.” (FREE HOUSING + P10K CASH ASSISTANCE FOR FILIPINOS, REGISTER NOW. SEND US A MESSAGE.)

It is FAKE. There are no official announcements of any free housing or P10,000 cash assistance being given away by Marcos and Duterte online.

Superimposed over a 2017 picture of Regina Rosa Residences in Batangas was a campaign photo of the BBM-Sara tandem in the last election in an apparent bid to mislead netizens.

The FB page is not associated with the official pages of the President and the Vice President.

The fake post came out six days after the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) presented the priority housing program of the Marcos administration during a congressional budget hearing.

DHSUD, with a proposed P3.951-billion budget in 2023, seeks a P36-billion interest subsidy funding for the Pambansang Pabahay Para Sa Pilipino program of the Marcos administration with its aim of building six million housing units in the next six years.
