A YouTube video is claiming that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has stepped down from office. This is false.

Published on March 21, the YouTube channel published the video that bore the following headline:

“NA-SHOCKED LAHAT PRES MARCOS BINIG-LA ang LAHAT sa NAGING DISISYON LIZA ARANETA MARCOS NAMUT-LA IYAK (sic)

(Everyone was shocked. President Marcos stunned all with his decision. [First Lady] Liza Araneta-Marcos pales in fright, cried)”

In the video’s thumbnail, the following text can also be read:

MARCOS RESIGN NA. ITO ANG BIGLA-ANG DISISYON (sic) NI PRES MARCOS (Marcos has resigned. This is the sudden decision of President Marcos)”

The video’s thumbnail is a photo of the president holding up a piece of paper, supposedly his resignation letter.

This is not true. The content of the video itself does not show evidence that Marcos indeed resigned as president. Instead, the video narrator showed several comments from social media users calling for his resignation due to alleged rampant corruption in his administration.

The photo of Marcos used in the spurious video’s thumbnail is not a recent one but a 2018 GMA News photo taken when he filed a petition calling for the inhibition of Associate Justice Alfredo Caguioa from his electoral protest case against then Vice President Leni Robredo.

The erroneous video also flashed several photos of Apollo Quiboloy, controversial leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), and the prayer rallies held by the pastor’s supporters. Last month, Marcos urged Quiboloy to face the allegations of human rights abuses against him.

A day before this untrue video emerged, the Senate issued an arrest order against Quiboloy for his repeated failure to appear before the Senate panel’s probe into his alleged human rights violations.

YouTube channel PINAS BALITA TV (created on March 22, 2022) published the video with the false claim, garnering over 26,000 views and 1,000 interactions as of this writing.
