Several Facebook (FB) pages uploaded videos claiming dermatologist Vicki Belo and other Filipina actresses are promoting an egg mask that “moisturizes and brightens skin” and “prevents acne and aging.” These are fake.
Sammi Egg Essence Mask is not listed on the Food and Drug Administration Verification Portal.
From Jan. 2 to 12, at least nine videos were uploaded by impostor FB pages. Neither the product nor the ad is carried by the official pages of Vicki Belo and Belo Medical Group Philippines.
Part of the caption posted by the impostor page Dr Vicky.Belo Blog on Jan. 11 read:
“As a dermatologist doctor, I really want Fillipino (sic) women to have healthy, youthful skin and always loved by husband. Korea’s leading cosmetic experts have researched the product Sammi Egg Essence Mask that can help smooth, firm and even skin tone, can be used for both pregnant women and people with extreme skin sensitive period.”
The videos also contained digitally manipulated images and clips of celebrities.
An example of an altered clip used was a May 2 Instagram video of Belo holding bottles of shampoo and conditioner, not the egg mask.
Actress Kim Chiu’s images and clips promoting other skin care products were also manipulated.
Some of the videos also added an edited version of actress Jane De Leon’s 2021 photo endorsing a facial foam.
The fake advertisements altered content from the social media accounts of other celebrities like Elisse Joson, Sofia Andres, Beatrice Luigi Gomez, Liza Soberano and Ivana Alawi.
All posts lead netizens to websites that ask for their personal information to purchase the mask.

The fake advertisements were posted by the FB pages ANNA • Cosmetic Genuine (created on Oct. 15, 2020 as Hộp Thực Phẩm Chân Không Cao Cấp), Vicki Belo Medical (Dec. 20, 2022), Dr. Vιckι BeIo (Sept. 4, 2022 as Jermaine Nichols), Dok Victoria Belo (April 10, 2022 as Rolling Trends), Jane De.leon (Sept. 15, 2022 as Cael Koch), Dr.Vιckι Bҽlo (Sept. 15, 2022 as Ryder Terrell), Halal Green Life (Oct. 22, 2022), Dr Vicky.Belo Blog (Jan. 11, 2023) and Elisse Joson (March 18, 2022 as Natural Younger Shampoo). The videos collectively garnered 9,526 reactions, 5,242 comments and 1,191,300 views.
