A Facebook (FB) video falsely claimed in its headline that television host Willie Revillame reprimanded Sen. Robin Padilla.
“ITO NAH!! PBBM PINAPAHANDA ANG AFP!! WILLIE REVILLAME PINANGARALAN C ROBIN PADILLA PAHIYA (This is it! PBBM asked the AFP [Armed Forces of the Philippines] to get ready! Willie Revillame chided Robin Padilla, shame),” the nine-minute video published on Nov. 3 claimed.
The video showed side-by-side photos of Revillame and Padilla, with the text “ANU KA NGAUN ROBIN PADILLA (What are you now, Robin Padilla)” written below. An audio of Revillame’s monologue played as the graphic was shown on the screen.
Revillame’s soundbite originally came from an Oct. 7, 2021 episode of his noontime show Wowowin, where the television host explained his decision not to run for the Senate in the 2022 national elections.
In the show, Revillame said he declined then-president Rodrigo Duterte’s invitation for him to run for office because of his lack of experience and political infighting. He did not call out nor allude to Padilla in his monologue.
“Kung sakaling tatakbo ho ako sa Senado, hindi naman ako magaling mag-English, wala akong alam sa batas. Baka ho lait-laitin lang ako doon ng ating mga mahal na senador na magagaling. Hindi man lait-laitin, siguro baka wala naman akong maiaambag na batas…
Hindi ho ba nakakalungkot na isa kang senador, nakikipag-away ka, isa kang presidente, may kaaway ka … Tapos ang makikita pa namin sa television, sa news, puro away niyo. Nakakalungkot po… Pupunta ba ako sa ganitong klaseng institusyon?”
(If I ever run for the Senate, I’m not even good at speaking in English, I don’t know anything about the law. Our great, beloved senators might just belittle me. They might not, but I probably won’t be able to contribute in [crafting] new laws…
Isn’t it sad that you’re a senator and you fight others, you’re a president and you have enemies… and on television, in the news, all the public sees are your fights all the time. That’s sad… Would I enter that kind of institution?)

FB page Viral ph posted the misleading video, garnering a total of over 14,725 comments, 2,189 comments, and 406,000 views.
