Pinag-iisipan ng Kongreso ang pagpapaliban sa ikatlong pagkakataon ng halalan para sa mga opisyal ng barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) sa kabila ng pagtiyak ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) sa kahandaan nitong isagawa ang eleksyon ayon sa nakatakdang petsa Disyembre 5 ngayong taon.
Noong Agosto 16, nagdesisyon ang House Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reforms na ipagpaliban ang eleksyon sa Disyembre 4, 2023. Hindi pa napapagpasyahan ng Senado ang dalawang nakabinbing panukalang batas na nagpapaliban sa lokal eleksyon.
