What’s May 1 without the protest rallies asking for higher wages and other workers’ demands?

Just like in past years, last Thursday, militant groups marched to Mendiola bridge, not so far from Malacañang, the official residence and workplace of the Philippine president.

Since normal Labor Day activity, a phalanx of policemen were in place to block the path of the protesters  to the Malacañang gate.

There was the usual pushing and shoving between the rallyist and the policemen under the searing heat of the summer sun. One policemen even fell to the ground and his fellow police “saved” him from the spirited red shirt clad-rallyists.

In the end, no one was seriously hurt. It was all in a day’s work.
