The Alpha Phi Omega fraternity at the University of the Philippines-Manila held its the annual Oblation Run last Dec. 12 with the massive corruption involving senators, congressmen, public officials and private contractors in the government’s flood control projects as the target of its protest action.

This year’s Oblation Run also marked the fraternity’s 50th anniversary.

Online accounts say the Oblation Run  was first organized in 1977 at the University of the Philippines Diliman to promote the movie,Hubad na Bayani (Naked Hero). The Oblation imitates the statue of a nude man located in every UP campus  which symbolizes “a selfless offering of one’s self to the country.”
