Dahil sa banta ng isang senador na tanggalan ng budget sa 2024 ang Commission on Human Rights (CHR), nilinaw ng ahensya na tutol ito sa abortion, maliban kung “under extreme circumstances” o nanganganib ang buhay ng babae.
Pagkatapos ng isang linggo, inaprubahan na ng Senado ang P937-milyon na panukalang budget para sa CHR nang mabigyang linaw ang mga kondisyon sa isinusulong ng ahensya na pag-decriminalize ng abortion.
