Several Facebook (FB) pages are circulating a fake hiring call for teachers interested in becoming fire inspectors.
Published on June 2, one such post from the FB page PRC Updates read:
“Looking for a meaningful career shift? The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is now accepting licensed teachers for lateral entry as Fire Inspectors!”
The accompanying graphic bore the BFP’s logo and listed the application requirements for the position and its supposed monthly salary. The caption also instructed readers to click on a link to submit their applications.
These are fake. The BFP issued an advisory on June 4 debunking the job advertisements, calling them “unofficial and inaccurate.”
More, the links in the posts lead readers to an e-commerce site.
The FB page PRC Updates, an impostor of the Professional Regulation Commission, has been previously fact-checked by VERA Files in January for posting a fake “Philippine Coast Guard” job ad.

The BFP’s statement read:
“We do not support or endorse the sharing of unofficial information related to our recruitment, promotion, or placement processes. The post in question did not originate from any of our official platforms and should not be regarded as reliable.”
The agency also provided a list of its national and regional social media pages, which readers can check for legitimate BFP vacancies.
The BFP regularly publishes hiring announcements on its official website. In May, there was only one notice of vacancy for the position of Attorney III.
The fraudulent jobs ads targeting teachers circulated two weeks before classes were set to start in public schools on June 16.
They were published by PRC Updates (created May 6, 2023) and Philippine Recruitment Site (created Nov. 6, 2024) and collectively garnered around 14,000 reactions, 7,200 comments and 26,000 shares.
