A video from the “Gen Z protests” in Nepal is being falsely claimed as scenes from an anti-corruption rally in the Philippines.

On Nov. 15, a Facebook user posted a 13-second clip taken from a building showing a massive crowd of protesters filling up a street. The video carried the text:

SUGOD MGA KABABAYAN. HINDI PATATAPOS HANGGAT WALANG BUAYA BUMABABA SA SAMABAYANANG (CHARGE, MY FELLOW COUNTRYMEN. THIS WILL NOT END WHILE NO CORRUPT OFFICIAL STEPS DOWN).”

The post also bore the caption:

Bumababa (Going down) #viralvideo2025 #sugodmgakababayan #VPIndaySaraDuterte #DDSSUPPORTERS #fprrdsupporters #hindimatatapos #hanggatwalangbuayabumababa #samalacanyang (#itwillnotend #untilnocorruptofficialcomesdown #frommalacañang) #Disclaimer for entertainment porpoises (sic) only.”

This is false. The video shows protesters in Nepal last September, not in the Philippines this month.

The video shows a crowd during the “Gen Z” protests in Nepal last September. It is not a scene from an anti-corruption rally in the Philippines this month.

A TikTok user uploaded the original video on Sept. 8 with a caption indicating that it was taken in Baneshwor, an area in Kathmandu. Several individuals can also be seen carrying Nepalese flags.

That day, a massive crowd of youth gathered at the Maitighar – Baneswor- Tinkune route to protest against corruption and internet bans in the South Asian country. The protests escalated with the protesters setting government establishments on fire.

The clip was uploaded at the same time that authorities were preparing for the Iglesia ni Cristo-led “Rally for Transparency and a Better Democracy” at the Quirino Grandstand on Nov. 16-17. This is just one of the many protests in relation to the ongoing investigations into the flood control scandal.

More anti-corruption rallies all over the Philippines are also slated on Nov. 30.

VERA Files has debunked several videos from the Nepal protest passed off as scenes from the Philippines.

The false video uploaded by a Facebook user garnered 21,000 reactions, 1,600 comments, 3,900 shares and 738,000 views.
