Some Facebook posts are claiming that the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections will take place on Dec. 14. This is false and has been debunked by the Commission on Elections.
Since Oct.7, a purported “official announcement” from the COMELEC about a new date for the BSKE has been circulating online. The graphic, which displayed the poll body’s logo and official website link, bore the text:
“This is to confirm the scheduled date for the next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE). Despite any varying information, the scheduled date on record is December 14, 2026.”
Three days later, another FB page posted a 46-second video that flashed the graphic during its opening three seconds. The clip featured a radio report on COMELEC’s statement that holding the BSKE this November would no longer be feasible even if the SC issues a temporary restraining order against a postponement.
In an Oct. 10 advisory, the commission refuted the inaccurate claim, citing Republic Act No. 12326, which moved the next village and youth council polls from Nov. 2, 2026 to Nov. 13, 2028.
The COMELEC also noted that the SC has not yet issued any order to temporarily stop the implementation of the said law.
