A video circulating on Facebook claims that electricity and water will be free of charge nationwide this month. This is fake and was likely generated using artificial intelligence.

Packaged to look like a legitimate news report, the 8-second video features a speaker who says:

“Good news. Libre na ang kuryente at tubig ngayong September 2025 sa buong Pilipinas. Para makasama ka, magregister sa link dito sa post namin”

One post published on Aug. 27 includes two links supposedly for registration. It has a caption that partly reads:

“LIBRE KURYENTE AT TUBIG SA SEPTEMBER 2025! Yes! Totoo ito — FREE ang bayad sa kuryente at tubig kahit magkano ngayong Setyembre!

LIMITED slots lang! Mag-register habang bukas pa ang listahan — huwag palampasin!”

Some users in the comment section appear to believe the post, with several even asking how to register.

Electricity and water will not be free this month. No government agency nor a private entity has come out with any directive for free electricity and water bills. No news report supports the claim. The video was likely generated using artificial intelligence.

No government agency nor a private entity has come out with any directive for free electricity and water bills. A quick keyword search on Google does not show any reliable news report supporting the claim.

Results from Hive moderation, an AI-detection tool, reveal that the video is “likely to contain AI-generated or deepfake content,” with an aggregate score of 99.9%.

The two links in the post redirect users to an e-commerce site, a tactic often used by bogus pages to boost product visibility and engagement.

During a campaign sortie last April 12 for the May polls, then senatorial candidate Rodante Marcoleta promised to file a bill providing for free electricity for households with a monthly consumption bill of P2,000 and below. After winning in the elections, the neophyte senator has not filed the promised measure.
