Several posts claim that Filipinos with national identification cards will receive P5,000 cash aid and rice subsidies by registering on a website. These posts are fake and from pages not affiliated with the Philippine Statistics Authority.
On May 6, a Facebook page posted a 13-second clip showing a male TV host from a supposed organization called “Buzz PH.” The host in the clip said:
“Mayroon ka bang National ID? Lahat ng may National ID ay may makukuha na P5,000 at rice subsidy. [Ang] registration form ay makikita dito sa post namin at comment section. Mag-follow sa amin at share mo ang balitang ito
(Do you have a national ID? Everyone with a national ID will get P5,000 and rice subsidy. [The] registration form can be found here in our post and in the comment section. Follow us and share this news).”
Similar reels bearing the same claim have been circulating since April.
These are fake. The PSA has disowned the fabricated announcements and clarified that having a national ID does not automatically make anyone eligible for government assistance or cash benefits.

On May 7, the PSA, which implements the Philippine Identification System or the national ID program, released a public advisory warning netizens about such posts.
The agency does not provide any cash assistance. While some government agencies offer cash aid and rice subsidies to disadvantaged sectors, these programs have their own application processes and eligibility requirements.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development provides cash aid through its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations and Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita Program programs, while the Department of Agriculture has the “Benteng Bigas Meron Na” initiative, which offers rice at P20 per kilo nationwide.
The posts carried links that lead netizens to a website not affiliated with the government.
VERA Files ran one of the circulating clips in the AI-detection tool Hive Moderation. The result showed 99% likelihood that the clip was generated using AI and deepfake content.
The fake announcements started circulating this May after the DA said they stepped up measures in addressing high food prices caused by the oil price hike due to the Middle East conflict. The DA, working with other government agencies, has removed toll fees for agricultural trucks, cut port charges to speed up deliveries and rolled out fuel subsidies, among others.
VERA Files has repeatedly debunked false posts about cash aid for national ID holders. Most of the posts bore deepfake videos and contained links that direct users to e-commerce sites or websites that are not affiliated with government agencies.
