A video posted by several Facebook (FB) accounts claims a top research firm has denied conducting a survey where results showed Vice President Sara Duterte topped President Ferdinand Marcos in trust and performance ratings. This needs context.
On April 17, posts published by FB users spread an interview clip of Ranjit Rye, president of polling firm OCTA Research. One post bore the caption:
“Anu DDS MAGPAKALAT KAYO NG FAKESNEWS (sic) NAMAN PBBM SAKALAM MAS MATAAS ANG RATINGS HINDI IYONG INDAY LUSTAY NIYO
(What now, Duterte supporters? Even if you spread fake news, strong Marcos still has higher ratings than your wasteful Inday [Sara Duterte]!)”
None of the FB users disclosed that the video is old. The 43-second clip is from Radyo Pilipinas’ Feb. 18 broadcast with Rye warning the public against a fake survey attributed to OCTA Research that month.

The publishers of the video needing context also seem to be conflating the real April 16 survey posted by polling firm PulseAsia – which showed Marcos’ plunging trust and performance ratings compared to previous months – with the fake survey that was disowned by OCTA Research.
Some of the people who wrote comments were also under the impression that the OCTA Research clip was referring to the recent survey of PulseAsia, with one even saying that anyone who believes the “fake” survey is an “idiot.”
OCTA Research has yet to publish their own trust and performance ratings on key government officials this month. Their latest is the Tugon ng Masa survey on voter preferences in the upcoming May 12 midterm elections.
The old interview clip continues to circulate as Malacañang blames the spread of “coordinated disinformation” for the substantial drop in the trust and performance ratings of the President.
The outdated videos were published by two FB users, collectively garnering 150 reactions and 37,000 views.
