A Facebook post featuring a compilation of videos that allegedly shows the extreme combined impact of Severe Tropical Storm Crising and Southwest monsoon winds (Habagat) in Manila. This is not true.

On July 20, an FB user published the video with the text:

Grabi (sic) lakas ng bagyo sa Manila (Oh, no. The typhoon in Manila is so strong).”

The seven-second video shows various clips featuring an urban area with low visibility due to strong winds and rain, which are shown violently moving vehicles, uprooting plants and lifting debris into the air.

A reverse image search revealed that at least three of the clips were taken in China, not Manila.

Ang video na nagpapakita umano ng matinding epekto ng Bagyong Crising at Habagat sa Maynila ay kuha sa China, ayon sa isang reverse image search.

The clips featured two cities in China, namely Jinan and Yibin, and were published as early as June 19.

This misleading video continues to circulate as the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported six people dead and six missing during the onslaught of Crising and the Habagat.

The FB user’s video has garnered over 1,200 reactions, 200 comments, 480 shares and 336,000 views.
