WHAT WAS CLAIMED

A Facebook post is claiming that Erwin Tulfo had warned Iglesia ni Cristo protesters they would get in trouble with him should they hold another rally.

OUR VERDICT

Fake:

Sen. Erwin Tulfo has no statement on record or in any credible source threatening the INC rallyists who participated in the June 30 to July 2 rally in support of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta should they hold another protest action.

A Facebook post is claiming that Sen. Erwin Tulfo had said Iglesia ni Cristo protesters would get in trouble with him should they hold another rally. This is fake.

The post published on July 5 contains a photo of Tulfo and this quote attributed to him:

“Kapag inulit pa ng INC ang rally nila talagang malilintikan na kayo sa akin, maniwala kayo ako mismo ang pupunta dyan sa lugar niyo at imumudmod ko ang pagmumukha ng mga organizer sa harap ng kanilang mga miyembro

(If the INC holds another rally, you really are going to be in trouble with me. Believe me, I’ll personally go to you and shove the organizers’ faces in front of their own members).”

The post is captioned:

“Mga kapatid may binitiwan salita si senator erwin tulfo totoo po ba eto anu po kayo ang masasabi ng ating pangkahalatang tagapamahala ng Inc

(Brothers and sisters, Sen. Erwin Tulfo made this statement. Is this true? What can you say? What would the INC’s general manager say about this).”

Tulfo’s photo used in the post was from a public hearing conducted by the Committee on Foreign Relations on March 12, when it discussed the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement between the Philippines and Cambodia.

Another FB post with the same graphic was published on the same date, paired with a caption that asks online users for their insights.

Sen. Erwin Tulfo did not say Iglesia ni Cristo protesters will get in trouble with him should they hold another rally. No official statement or news report from credible media agencies exists to support the claim.

No credible source would show Tulfo made such a controversial or political statement, specifically regarding the rally.

The only statement he made related to the June 30 to July 2 rally was his criticism of a police officer who did not help a rider get through the INC rallyists blocking the way.

The motorcycle rider was caught on a video that has gone viral online, showing him complaining that the rallyists took his keys and threatened him. This was witnessed by the policeman who Tulfo had castigated for not intervening.

The fake post surfaced after the INC held a three-day rally that started near the People Power Monument on EDSA, Quezon City on June 30 and July 1, then moved to the Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila on July 2. The assembly was held in support of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta, who was facing arrest over an impending plunder charge that the Office of the Ombudsman subsequently filed on July 3 before the Sandiganbayan.

The post was published on the public group IGLESIA NI CRISTO 2026🇮🇹 with 232,400 members. The post has so far garnered 2,249 reactions, 2,200 comments, and 64 shares.
