A YouTube video claims that Sen. Risa Hontiveros has replaced Sen. Rodante Marcoleta as chairperson of the Senate blue ribbon committee, following a leadership shakeup in the Upper Chamber early this week. This is not true.

It was Sen. Panfilo Lacson who was elected chairperson of that body formally known as the Committee on Accountability of Public Officers and Investigations last Sept. 9.

Uploaded on Sept. 8, the video’s thumbnail partly read:

“CONFIRMED! Hontiveros replaces Marcoleta as Chair of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.”

It also carried the headline: “HONTIVEROS PAPALIT KAY MARCOLETA? WALA NA PAG-ASA ANG PILIPINAS (Hontiveros replacing Marcoleta? There is no hope for the Philippines).”

Sen. Panfilo Lacson is the new chairperson of the Senate blue ribbon committee, replacing Sen. Rodante Marcoleta. Sen. Risa Hontiveros was elected chairperson of the Committee on Health previously led by Sen. Bong Go.

Lacson, recently elected Senate President Pro tempore, replaced Marcoleta as chair of the blue ribbon committee. The former police chief will lead the Senate investigation on anomalous flood control projects across the country.

Hontiveros, who is now deputy majority leader, is new chairperson of the Committee on Health taking over Sen. Bong Go. She was offered to lead the blue ribbon committee but declined as she preferred Lacson to take the post, according to Senate President Vicente Sotto III.

Uploaded by YouTube channel Robin Sweet Showbiz, the erroneous video received 16,253 interactions.
