A video is circulating on social media platforms claiming that senatorial candidate Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan recently argued with police officials supposedly over a traffic incident. This is false.

Posted on Feb. 15, a Tiktok user made this claim:

“Feel na feel ni Kiko Pangilinan na special siya. Di pa nanalo abusado na. Wag iboto”.

(Kiko Pangilinan really feels he is special. Already abusive and he hasn’t won yet. Do not vote for him).

On the same day, a user on X (formerly Twitter) uploaded the same video with this caption:

“Kayong mga kandidato ingat talaga kayo sa mga kilos nyo dahil lahat ng tao ay may cell phone. Ctto”.

(You candidates be careful how you behave because everyone has a cell phone.)

Former senator Kiko Pangilinan was not involved in a recent altercation with the police over a traffic incident. The video was taken in February 2017 after he was not allowed entry into Camp Crame to visit detained former senator Leila de Lima.

The footage used is an old video taken on Feb. 24, 2017, when Pangilinan went to visit former senator and Justice secretary Leila De Lima, who at that time was detained at Camp Crame.

The original video, taken by Pangilinan’s office, carried the caption that the then-senator’s confrontation with police officers stemmed from their refusal to let him into the camp.

The clip was not shot by a random citizen, as the X user claimed.

The inaccurate video was posted four days after the start of the official campaign period for the 2025 midterm elections where Pangilinan is again running for senator under the Liberal Party.

As of writing, the TikTok video has garnered 21,600 views, 600 likes, and 263 comments, while the false post on X earned 90,400 views, 400 likes, and 199 reposts.
