At least two YouTube videos are claiming that a “new set of rules” for ATM use by senior citizens took effect on Feb. 11. This is fake and generated using artificial intelligence.

In a Feb. 10 post, a video showed a woman mimicking office staff, claiming that ATM owners 60 years old and above must follow new protocols when withdrawing their SSS and GSIS pension or cash. The video caption read:

MAHALAGANG BABALA SA ATM PARA SA MGA NAKATATANDA (60 ANYOS PATAAS)!

Simula Pebrero 11, may bagong mga panuntunan sa cash withdrawal sa ATM na kailangang malaman ng lahat ng senior citizens, lalo na ang mga SSS at GSIS pensioners.”

(IMPORTANT ATM WARNING FOR SENIORS (60 YEARS AND ABOVE)! Starting February 11, there are new ATM cash withdrawal rules that all senior citizens, especially SSS and GSIS pensioners, need to know)

Two separate posts with similar claims began circulating on Facebook the following day. Each post bore the title:

“ALERTO SA ATM NG 60 ANYOS PATAAS!”

(Alert on ATM users for those aged 60 years and above)

The new ATM rule supposedly sets a P20,000 withdrawal limit for senior citizens only between 6 am to 6 pm. They need to register their mobile number with their bank to acquire a one-time password (OTP), it added.

The videos and graphics circulating online claiming there are “new ATM rules” for senior citizens are AI-generated. There are no special withdrawal limits or OTP requirements specifically for seniors.

Neither the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) nor the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) has issued new or special ATM rules for senior citizens.

An AI-detection test run by VERA Files flagged the video and graphics as 99.9% and 98% likely to be AI-generated and deepfake content, respectively.

The most recent regulation issued by BSP on Sept. 19, 2025, that applies to all bank clients regardless of age, was on large value cash transactions (exceeding P500,000) to ensure financial security and transparency.

The AI-generated video and graphics surfaced online after the NCSC on Feb. 9 ordered the immediate processing and release of P100,000 cash gifts for four Aeta centenarians who were unable to receive their benefits in 2024.

As of writing, the fake video published by Youtube channel SSS Philippine Updade and Filipino Senior Ubdate; and Facebook pages Chaos Daily (created Oct.18, 2025) and Hot Balita Ngayon (created Nov. 13, 2025) collectively garnered 28,595 views; 2,660 reactions, 1,827 comments, and 218 shares respectively.
